   Super Double Bonus VP
This is one of my favorite Triple or Five multi-hand VP games.

Who wouldn’t smile with a 600-coin award when given 3 or 5 attempts at it?

Deal me three Kings, Queens or Jacks in the bottom row with a fourth in any or all of the other lines or let’s get very greedy and just deal the quad outright for an easy hold.

Another bonus feature of this game is that respect is paid to the straight flush with a better-than-average payout of 400 coins.

This version definitely aims to please the ‘high card’ set.

The table below illustrates the payout for specific winning hands, one coin return payout and maximum coin return payout.

Pays – Super Double Bonus 8/5 one-coin return max. coin return
Pair--Jacks or Better returns the bet 5 coins
Two pair (2 PR) returns the bet 5 coins
Three-of-a-kind (3/kind) pays 3-1 15 coins
Straight (ST) (sequence, not same suit) pays 4-1 20 coins
Flush (FL) (non-sequential, same suit) pays 5-1 25 coins
Full house (FH) (3 of a kind and a pair) pays 8-1 40 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) fives to tens pays 50-1 250 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) 2’s, 3’s or 4’s. pays 80-1 400 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) K’s, Q’s, J’s pays 120-1 600 coins
Four Aces pays 160-1 800 coins
Straight flush (SF) (in sequence, same suit) pays 80-1 400 coins
Royal flush (RF) (except with max. coins) pays 250-1 4000 coins

The average return for Super Double is over 99%.

This percentage is maintained with maximum coins per hand at a ‘full-pay’ machine with perfect strategy.

Strategy: While you are on constant watch for face cards, you should also be concentrating on straight flush possibilities for the higher payout value of 400 coins.

- As the full-house pay of 40 coins is lower with this version, I utilize the strategy of holding one pair only when dealt two pair of face cards. A small risk, in my opinion, for the 600-coin award.

- This same small risk applies if dealt two pair and only one is Jacks or Better.

- Two non-paying pairs (both less than Jacks+) must be held for the sure payout.

- Let’s not forget that Aces offer a fine return of 800 coins and should not be ignored in your quest for quad faces.

Wager Management Tip: I suggest you partner with another capable VP player and play different VP versions.

For example, my partner and I have a plan. He will play mostly Jacks or Better 9/6 VP. These are the slots he learned in the beginning and studied the strategies.

I will play Deuces, Jokers Wild and/or Double Bonus as long as I can locate the full-pay machines. We move among different versions and play what we know works well for us.

Until we meet again to continue your VP education, may all your VP choices turn out to be ‘royalty’.
