Following are descriptions and reviews of ten bonus slots for you to explore on your next casino adventure.
1) Fishin’ Buddies: Players can wager 9 coins per spin up to 25 per line for a max. total of 225 coins on this arctic ice fishing themed slot. Can O’ Worms scatter symbol and other fishing icons are played out on the primary reels and there are 2 separate bonus features. The main Fishin’ Buddies feature is triggered when the Fishing Reel icon appears anywhere on the first and fifth reels simultaneously. Choose a fishin’ buddy by touching the screen and he proceeds to reel in a fish--the larger his catch, the bigger your bonus. When 2 triggering fishing reels appear on the same horizontal payline and you reel in the smallest bonus fish--do not despair because that little sucker automatically is replaced by Lunker, the largest fish and the largest bonus. A 225-coin version of this game could pay a possible 506,250 coins. The second bonus feature called the North Pole Mystery Multiplier boasts a very handsome payout if it lands anywhere on the second and fourth reels. The symbols change into Wild Mystery Multipliers and substitute for all icons in sequence thus resulting in multipliers of 2 or 3. This is, surely, a ‘Can of Worms’ worth opening.
2) Five Times Fruit: A rainbow of colors is presented and a three fruit symbol combo provides the player a spin of the exclusive top bonus reel. Match the top bonus reel symbol with the base reel to multiply the line win by five. You’ll go ‘bananas’ when you hit ‘the top of the tree’ jackpot of 50,000 coins.
3) Five Times Pay Deluxe: another version ‘nudging’ you on to those jackpots. We all know the routine by now for the 5x and two for 25x and three wilds for top of the tree win. The extras are pays for multiple 7 combos and lining up two wilds with a blank. You will find that most ‘deluxe’ slot versions have that ‘nudge’ that will drop a winner in your lap by jumping up or down. If, like me, you enjoy the anticipation of a ‘jumped win’, this version is another reason to thank the people at IGT. I find myself examining the 5 Times versions closely as there are several selections now.
4) Five Times, Ten Times Pay: a multiplying wild symbol with mix and match possibilities for larger payouts. One 10x = 10 times, while Two = 100 times jackpot. Also One 5x and One 10x = 50 multiplier. Budget accordingly. Even though the hit frequency may not be high on this version, it has been determined that every 50-60 spins will bring in the right multipliers for higher payouts to put your bankroll back on track.
5) Flip For It: A bonus slot with a high hit frequency plus a hit payout of at least 3 to 1--music to my ears! This game features basic bar symbols, a wild symbol, jackpot symbols and flaming ‘7’s’. Three ‘Jackpot’ symbols reward the player with 2,250 coins times the line bet, while the ‘Wild’ symbol helps maintain the high hit frequency. Regardless of how many coins are wagered, if the three words ‘Flip For and It’ line up in any position on the reels, the player is sent to the top-box bonus round. During this phase, you are prompted to select either heads or tails on the coin appearing on the screen. If heads is your winning selection, your bonus is multiplied at which time you can decline and continue the bonus round for more. You may also receive a ‘Free Flip’ when a coin toss is missed. Two coin toss misses will end the bonus round. ‘I’ll flip you for it’ takes on a completely new meaning with this fun game.
6) Fortune Cookie: Chinese Restaurant..mmm good. Those ‘MSG’ or ‘No MSG’ signs will line up some credits and tea while carryout boxes, bowls of rice keep your interest. 3 fortune cookies qualify for the bonus round and your selected cookie will provide some big ‘crumbs’ to your total. 3 carryout cartons places your order; a choice of seafood, chicken, pork, soup, appetizer and a bonus amount tally at the end. Mr. Lucky, comedian-extraordinaire entertains his hungry diners.
7) Fox ‘n Hound: A pack of hounds tries to outrun and outwit the wily fox on this 5 coin, 5-line game. When three Bonus symbols land on any line, you are transported to the bonus round. The object is to separate Fox and Hound reels at the center of a game board path. Spin the Fox reel to advance that number of spaces on the reel. The Hound reel automatically spins, as the Hounds take off after the Fox. Collect the value of every space the Fox lands on while continuing to play until the Hounds catch up to the Fox. If the Fox avoids the Hounds for 5 laps, you collect a bonus of 100 coins. If the Fox goes all the way around the path and lands on the start square, you get a free spin. The race is on!
8) Frog Prince: The main character is a frog wearing a crown and from there, a ‘magic wand’ or ‘magic book’ will begin the ‘Magic Wish Bonus’. You determine the number of free spins and then tap the magic wand to reveal a multiplier amount. Three frogs trigger the main screen bonus event titled ‘Kiss the Frog’ whereupon you are prompted to pick a frog who is begging to be kissed. Appropriately, the tune ‘Jeremiah was a Bullfrog’ is cranked up at this time. You can accept the bonus amount presented or attempt another. Oh dear, I’ve got that tune in my head, and have to say, “was a good friend of mine...”
9) Frog Wild: The quick screen bonus event is called the Firefly Bonus. Three Quick Pick symbols on a payline transform the screen into a nighttime scene where a frog picks off fireflies with his tongue revealing bonus amounts. Three Leap Frog Bonus symbols send you back to a pond for the main bonus where the player selects a frog to compete in a leapfrog contest. Bonus amounts are accumulated with each jump to another lily pad. Both frogs reveal amounts with each leap and if your frog wins the race, you collect the bonus won by both. Lastly, lounging lily leaps lick luminated little ‘luckies’ for loot.
10) Full of Sheep: Sheep characters include, Grandpa Sheep with lousy dentures, Grandma Sheep a knittin’, blue grass twangin’ Banjo Sheep, Farmer Sheep, Lady Sheep, Baby Sheep and a Sheep dog. One bonus screen features a dreaming Baby Sheep (counting sheep, of course). As the sheep jump the farm fence, they turn into bonus coins. The second bonus round features a big bad wolf where the player challenges it to a game of Sheep-Tac-Toe. For a ‘bagful’ of fun, try this game.
