Playing Craps can be as simple or as complicated as you choose to make it. There is an initially bewildering array of betting options available to the Craps player, but you only need to understand a handful of them to get to grips with the game and enjoy playing.
The aim of the game is to bet on which numbers the next roll of the dice will produce or omit. At its most basic players place a bet on the Pass line in anticipation of the Shooter amongst them rolling a seven or an eleven. This first roll is called the 'Come Out' roll, and if the Shooter succeeds in rolling either of those two numbers (known as the ‘Naturals’) that bet will pay even money and those players can make another bet. If the Shooter rolls a two, three or twelve (‘Craps’) the bets are lost.
In the circumstances that the Shooter rolls a number other than a Natural or Craps, then the number they roll becomes known as the ‘Point’ and the Pass Line bets must remain on the table. Once a Point is established the aim for the Shooter becomes to roll that number again before the next seven is rolled. If a seven is rolled before the Shooter re-rolls the Point the Pass Line bets are lost. Once a Point or a seven has been rolled the next roll becomes a fresh ‘Come Out’ roll.
Once a Point has been established players can continue to add extra bets to the table as set out below.
If you’ve read this far and Craps sounds like it could be your kind of casino fun, here’s the more elaborate detail of the types of bet you can make . . .

| As mentioned above this is the basic bet that the Shooter will throw a seven or eleven on the Come Out roll or, if he/she fails but establishes a Point that they will make that Point before the next seven is rolled. Pass Line bets cannot be removed or altered once a Point has been established. |

|
This is the opposite of the Pass Bet. This bet is placed against the Shooter and wins if a two or three is thrown on the Come Out roll or if they fail to make the Point. If a twelve is thrown on the Come Out roll the bet ties and play continues.

| This bet is similar to the Pass Bet but can only be made after a Point has been established, letting players just joining the table take part in the action immediately, instead of having to wait for the next Come Out roll. The Come Bet wins if a Natural is rolled and loses if a Craps is thrown. Any other number becomes the players Come Point and must be repeated before a seven is rolled in order to win even money. If the Shooter rolls a four, five, six, eight, nine, or ten after a Come Bet has been placed, the dealer moves the Come Bet from the Come area of the table to the corresponding box for that particular number. Again like the Pass Bet, this wager, once placed, cannot be reduced or removed until play is completed. |

| This is the opposite of the Don’t Come Bet and allows the placing of a Don’t Pass-style bet after a Point has been established on the table. |

|
This is a bet that can be made once a Point has been established. This bet is made on the Shooter rolling a selected number out of four, five, six, eight, nine or ten before a seven. This bet has different odds depending on the individual number bet on.

| This is an extra bet that can be placed at any juncture in the game, and is the opposite of the Place To Win Bet. The player is betting that the seven will be rolled before the place number. As with the Place To Win Bet the odds depend on the place number chosen. |
| |
|
| With two dice the numbers four, six, eight and ten can be rolled two ways in Craps – the ‘Hardway’ or the “ Easy Way’. The Hardway is essentially achieving these outcomes with a double i.e. two twos, two threes etc. A Hardway Bet is a wager on the Shooter making the chosen number the Hardway before he rolls a seven or that same number the Easy Way. The odds vary according the Hardway number bet on. |

|
| These are straightforward bets to predict the next number to be thrown. The payouts are based on the number chosen, and the player immediately loses or wins depending on the next roll of the dice. |
| |
|
| This is like a lower risk One Roll Bet and is a wager that any number other than five, six, seven or eight will be the outcome of the next roll. A two or twelve pays double. |
| |
|
| This is a bet that the next roll will be Craps, that is two, three or twelve. |
| |
|
|
| Obviously enough, this is a bet on the next roll being a seven. |
