Whilst ‘ Spin Palace’ sounds like a tabloid description of the Press Office at Number 10 Downing Street, it is happily a far nicer prospect. This online casino is part of a suite operated by the Palace Group that also includes Ruby Fortune, Mummy’s Gold, Jackpots In A Flash and Piggs Casino, which itself is owned by Fairground Gaming, a PLC listed on the London Stock Exchange. Why tell you about the corporate detail? Well, we’re keen that you should only play online casinos with decent pedigrees and it’s good to know that Spin Palace, despite including an image on its home page that looks like the Disneyland castle, is anything but a ‘Mickey Mouse’ outfit. Accreditation by eCogra is also a valuable indication that it’s safe as houses to play the Palace.
The Spin Palace site is rather attractive in our opinion, and we immediately warmed to its upfront option to customise it to a number of languages and currencies; clicking the Euro symbol immediately refreshes all the figures which is just how it should be! (Reading the site in an alternative European language to English is currently limited to Italian, but we can imagine other languages will be added in time as all online casinos refocus their businesses away from the US due to the changes in gambling law there.) The good design extends to all the navigation, which made it very easy to assimilate information and progress to play the online casino proper. No matter what level of player you are, or what experience you have of online casinos we think you’ll find Spin Palace has created a site that’s very user friendly. This is all good stuff, but having established that it’s easy to navigate the virtual corridors of Spin Palace, is its casino gaming a right royal treat or a despotic disappointment?

Thankfully the software servant of Spin Palace’s online casino is Microgaming’s superb Viper games, and what a selection too! At the time of review there were 189 games to choose from, covering all the casino classics and simply masses of machine games. Slots are a particular strength of Microgaming casinos, but that doesn’t mean that table games are poor cousins. There’s a very diverse range of Blackjack styles to play and several variations of Roulette in the mix of table games offered, so players with a bias for baize shouldn’t be disappointed. One limitation of Microgaming’s software suite that might matter to you is that it doesn’t have multi-player versions of its table games. Such facilities don’t really impact on the aims and outcomes of play, but they do enhance the social aspect of online gaming and do add that bit of extra authenticity to the recreation of a real casino atmosphere. Other than this we can’t fault the presentation and quality of the game software used by Spin Palace, and we also particularly like the ‘expert mode’, which allows you to automate play to a defined strategy – great for the multi-tasking gambler!
Spin Palace also earns our respect for offering both download and non-download ‘instant play’ versions of its casino, giving its members the flexibility to choose a more elaborate set of features or greater convenience according to their particular needs. The use of Flash technology to run the Instant Play casino also gave us hope that Spin Palace would be open to play with Mac computers but sadly these are not supported here. A shame we think.

Payouts look pretty good at Spin Palace and there are good promotions to take advantage of too, although like many other Microgaming-powered casinos these bonuses have to be applied for rather than automatically credited to players’ accounts. We also like Spin Palace’s option to choose between Welcome Bonuses to suit your preference for table games or slots. And speaking of slots, players with a penchant for progressive jackpots will feel right at home in this Palace – the money meters on this casino’s home page advertising the latest jackpots were showing big money and ramping upwards at a fine rate.
Freephone and email customer support is also supplemented by live chat support, but we must have a quick grumble about Spin Palace about this. Live chat (or instant messaging) is a great customer support facility in our opinion, but, boy, did we have to wait a long time before an agent was ready to serve us! We had time to brew a cafetière of coffee, read the latest stock prices and discuss last night’s telly before ‘Sean’ messaged a greeting to our ‘puter. Once with us, ‘Sean’ was highly efficient and friendly (no complaints about that) but Spin Palace ought to look into improving response times here (or, perhaps let players bet on how long it will take to get contact with a customer service agent!) In the interests of fairness, we found the freephone service to be far quicker on the draw, so it looks like it’s just a slapped wrist for the slack chat. With out Euro hat on (and it is a most stylish titfer), we noted that customers who want help in Italian are catered for with e-mail and a call-back service but live chat is currently only available between 10.30am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday rather than around-the-clock as with the English language service.

Bar the tardy live chat issue and lack of Mac support, we think Spin Palace is a very fine Euro-friendly retreat for internet gaming, worth serious consideration by all levels of player seeking an online casino to call home. Choice and quality are both in abundance here, and the attractive, intelligent design of Spin Palace’s website avoids complexity without sacrificing information that benefits their players. Multi-player table games would be a nice option, but we suspect most players won’t care or miss this feature when the existing playing experience delivered at Spin Palace is so good. It’s an obvious pun, but we have to say that - especially if you’ve never sampled Microgaming powered games - you owe it to yourself to give this casino a spin!
