Although Bill’s career in writing started out with copywriting for a local radio station after graduating from college, it was a trip to a casino in Atlantic City in 1980 that was to be the catalyst to his subsequent rise to become one of today’s most popular experts writing on casino gaming and especially casino pokers.
Taking a scholarly approach to his passion, Bill’s introduction to the fun of gaming back in the early 80s lead him to immerse himself in the study of all facets of casino gaming, building a huge library dedicated to it in the process. All this acquired knowledge not only benefited Mr. Burton at the tables, but also made his articles on the subject a hit with readers of gaming magazines such as Strictly Slots, The Southern California Gaming Guide, Midwest Gaming & Travel Magazine, Southern Gaming & Destinations Magazine, Blackjack Insider, and Video Poker Player.
In 2000, in response to receiving reader questions about casino poker, Bill’s studious side was once again stirred to investigate the popular variant Texas Hold ‘em, a game he’s never played before. Typically fastidious in his research, Bill Burton not only learned everything he could about the game, but also transformed himself into a highly successful player in the process, going on to win several major tournaments.
